Gotta Get a Gizzard

Many non-mammals, including birds, earthworms, alligators, and some fish, use an organ called the gizzard to help digest foods. This tough, muscular part of the digestive system grinds up hard food particles like seeds, often using small rocks swallowed just for this purpose.
